Lynn
May 1, 1940 – February 22, 2026
Memorial Service
Anita "Kay" Lynn of Mount Dora, FL, passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 22, 2026, in her home surrounded by family.
Kay was born in Grove Center, Kentucky, on May 1, 1940, to Jesse and Rosa Buchanan. She graduated from Morganfield High School in 1958. She married Robert Lynn on June 6, 1958, and together they raised 3 daughters. Kay was involved in church activities at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church and started the first Girl Scout Troop in her small town of Smith Mills, Ky.
In 1976, the family moved to Altamonte Springs, Florida, to be near her brother. She worked in Classified Advertising at the Orlando Sentinel for 13 years until she retired in 1993. A job that she both loved and excelled in. She spent her retirement years traveling back to Kentucky to spend time with friends and family. The last 4 years were spent in Mount Dora where she enjoyed visits from family and friends and quiet time watching birds and butterflies.
Kay is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Lynn; her daughters, Kelly Lynn of Mount Dora, FL, Karen Shisler of Sorrento, FL and Amy Lynn of Jacksonville, FL; 4 grandchildren, Megan Gunter (Kyle), Rachel Goldberg, Katie Shisler and Daniel Shisler; and 2 great-grandchildren, Caleb and Graham Gunter.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Lee Buchanan and Rosa Lee Shanklin Buchanan and her brothers, J.L, Raymond, Coleman, Gene and Paul.
In addition, we would like to thank her Hospice Team for the care and compassion they showed to mom and our family during her final journey. We are thankful that mom's final days were ones of comfort, peace, and dignity. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vitas Hospice of Central Florida.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 27th, 2026, from 2pm to 4pm at Allen J. Harden Funeral Home located at 1800 N. Donnelly Street, Mount Dora, FL 32757.
Funeral arrangements are under the careful care of Allen J. Harden Funeral Home.
