Ann Geagan, 70, died peacefully at home on August 12, surrounded by family and friends. Born December 21, 1943 to Andrew and Marguerite Mayer, she graduated from high school at Sauk Centre, Minnesota. Ann received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from St. Catherine's University, St. Paul, Minnesota.
Ann began her 36-year teaching career in Newport Beach, California where she met her husband Martin Scheveling. They were married on September 5, 1970 and made their home in Mt. Dora, Florida. Ann is survived by their two sons, Peter Scheveling (Natalie) of Mt. Dora and Jude Scheveling (Amy) of St. Augustine, Florida, and grandchildren Luke, Lily, Reef, and Rider.
Ann married Robert Geagan on July 1, 1993. She was predeceased by Bob on June 28, 2010 and by her step-son John on November 4, 1994. She is survived by step-daughters Mary Beth, Kathleen, Maureen, and Eileen (Jennifer Johnson.) Ann is also survived by brothers David Mayer and Thomas (Mary) Mayer of Sauk Centre, Minnesota and many nieces and nephews.
Ann enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren, and friends. Her talents were many. Ann's musical interests included performances with the Orlando Opera Company, the Ice House Theater in Mt. Dora, as a soloist at several area churches, and performances at area events. A member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ann was a cantor and choir member. She especially enjoyed playing bridge and painting among other pastimes.
Ann's grace, spirit, and talents will be celebrated at a 9:00 a.m. Mass on Saturday, August 16, at St. Patrick Catholic Church. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Friends are invited to visitation at the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home on August 15, 2014 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. The family requests that those who would like to honor Ann's memory consider organ donation.
