Obituary

Barbara H. Grob (nee Howell) - October 4, 2016

Barbara H. Grob, 76 years young of Mount Dora, FL, previously of Doylestown, PA went home to be with the Lord on October 4, 2016. Barbara lived her life with vibrancy and celebrated life's happy moments, loved her family and reveled with friends from her many travels and experiences.

Barbara passed away in the comforting care of Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, FL with peace and dignity after a long illness surrounded by her loving husband and sons.

Barbara was born in Frankford Hospital Philadelphia to Margaret (Campbell) and John Clark Howell. She loved dancing and the beach and spent many happy summers in Barnegat City, NJ. She attended Abraham Lincoln High School and Palmer Business School both in Philadelphia, PA. In 1956, she married her lifelong love, William Herman Grob. They were married for 60 years in June.

They successfully raised two sons, Kenneth W. and William H., Jr. whom she loved profoundly. Their accomplishments as men, fathers and husbands reflected her strong family values and good judgement. Moreover, the biggest joy in her life were her 6 grandchildren, who were a source of deep pride, boundless delight and infinite love. Barbara found her best self when laughing, playing and spending teaching moments with her precious grandchildren. Her love is reflected every day in their smile, zest for life and sense of humor.

Barbara was a versatile talent and had a natural intelligence that she parlayed into many fields. She was an exceptional car salesperson, and won numerous awards for her sales achievements with the Fred Beans Ford Mercury Organization in Doylestown, PA. She worked at retail sales, then moved to her dream location, Destin, Florida. Over the years she lived there she continued her lifelong learning and became a travel agent and a real estate agent. Barbara loved working with people and took pride in the services she provided to enrich their lives.

Later Barbara and Bill moved to the beautiful Lakes of Mount Dora Retirement Community, where Barbara was an avid volunteer and was an active member of the local Republican Party as well as the Sunshine Committee for the Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Dora, FL. These opportunities led Barbara to exciting destinations, culminating in an honored invitation to the White House to celebrate Lincoln's Birthday with George and Laura Bush as their hosts. She loved her country and being a guest at the White House was a lifelong dream.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, William H. Grob, Sr. of Mount Dora, FL and her beloved sons and their families: Kenneth W. Grob, his wife Brenda, both of Doylestown, PA and their children, Kenneth C. of Burlington, VT; Matthew A. and his bride, Kate Buhl of Morrisville, PA; and Luke J. Grob of Doylestown, PA. William H. Grob, Jr, his wife Penelope, both of Doylestown, PA and their children, Katherine M. of Philadelphia, PA, Emily E. of Newport Beach, CA; and Madeline J. of Doylestown, PA.

A memorial service to celebrate a life well lived will be on Sunday at 2 PM at the Faith Lutheran Church in Eustis, officiated by Pastor Kappel. Friends and neighbors are welcome and there will be a light reception afterwards. Interment will be private in PA at a later date. Arrangements handled by Allen J. Harden Funeral Home. Donations to honor Barbara's light and life can be sent in her memory to Faith Lutheran Church & School, 2727 S. Grove Street, Eustis, FL 32726.

Our family would like to thank all the friends, neighbors, the church community, care givers, and hospice workers, that aided Barbara during her long illness. She loved each and every one and appreciated the gracious help that was shared.

From Barbara
Miss me but let me go,
When I come to the end of the road,
and the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little but not too long,
and not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we shared,
Miss me but let me go.
When you are lonely and sick at heart,
go to friends you know,
and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds,
Miss me, dear ones, but let me go.
