Dr. Charles Glen Adkins, M.D., was born in East Lynn, West Virginia, in March of 1928. Charlie passed gently into the arms of his Savior on January 12, 2016 after a long illness. At his side was his loving wife and caregiver Deede.
After high school Charlie served as a Medic in the Army during World War ll. When the war over he attended college and then medical school, graduating from the University of Maryland. He returned to the coal mining communities in West Virginia to practice family medicine, often driving mountain roads late at night to provide needed medical services. He attended Duke University for a Residency in Anesthesiology. Later he returned to further his medical education by attending the University of Florida taking a Residency in Radiology.
Besides his wife, Charlie is survived by his brother Claude Adkins (Anne), his sister Eileen Asbury, six (6) children, eight (8) grandchildren, and one (1) great grandchild.
Charlie loved the outdoors spending his early years hunting, fishing, and playing golf. When he retired, his home was filled with cats, dogs, and other animals in need of a loving home.
