On January 12, 2018, we gather at the Methodist Church of Mt. Dora to celebrate the life and memory of Charles Mikell Carter, who passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at the age of 64. Charles, known as Charlie by family and friends, suffered cardiac arrest on January 1st shortly after celebrating the new year at home.
A native to the central Florida area, Charlie graduated Mount Dora High school and went on to serve in the armed forces.

Throughout his life, he wore many hats, the most important of which were those of devoted husband and father. The legacy of his love and life will forever shine through his wife of 38 years, Toni, and only daughter, DeLana. He is also survived by three brothers, Jerry, Marvin, and Frankie.

Charlie was a true nurturer. He was tender and caring with all living things, growing plants, feeding wild animals, playing with children, and assisting the elderly. He could never let a guest, relative, or friend leave his home without a parting gift of homemade food or peppers from his garden. He truly delighted in giving all he had to loved ones.

He laughed as much as he loved, and made those around him laugh too. Every person who knew him is guaranteed to have a story about a practical joke he played on them, or a colorful joke he told them. In parting he might say, "if you get lost, call me up and I'll tell you where you're at."

The viewing will be held at 5:00 pm January 12, with service beginning at 6. Refreshments and sharing to be at Fellowship Hall afterward. Special thanks to Gary Upleger & the Methodist Church, Cindy Coldren, Laura Pendergrass, teachers and staff at Round Lake Charter, and Charlie's friends & coworkers from the city of Tavares, where he has worked for the last twelve years.
