David “Pap” E. Brown Sr., 87, of Sorrento, Florida, formerly of Altoona, Pennsylvania, went home to be with his wife of nearly 50 years, in Heaven, on September 9, 2026.

He was born on June 24, 1939, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to the late Barbara Edith (Pope) and Woodrow Wilson Brown. He was one of seven siblings.

He married Shirley D. Lysinger on December 20, 1957, and together they had seven children: David Brown Jr. (Tracey), Deborah Behe (Jeff), Daniel Brown (Jenny), Shirley “Dottie” Patterson (Robert), Raymond Brown (Zoraida), James Brown (Jen), and Charles Brown (Diane). His daughter, Dottie, preceded him in death.

He enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 and proudly served for more than 20 years. In addition, he enjoyed building Legos and watching Perry Mason.

For the last 18 years of his life, he lived at home with his son, Raymond; daughter-in-law, Zoraida; grandson, “LJ”; and granddaughter, Trinity. His family included more than 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren at the time of his death.
