David “Pap” E. Brown Sr., 87, of Sorrento, Florida, formerly of Altoona, Pennsylvania, went home to be with his wife of nearly 50 years in Heaven on September 9, 2026.

He was born on June 24, 1939, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to the late Barbara Edith (Pope) and Woodrow Wilson Brown. He was one of seven siblings.

David married Shirley D. Lysinger on December 20, 1957, and together they had seven children: David Brown Jr. (Tracey), Deborah Behe (Jeff), Daniel Brown (Jenny), Shirley “Dottie” Patterson (Robert), Raymond Brown (Zoraida), James Brown (Jen), and Charles Brown (Diane). David is preceded in death by his daughter, Dottie.

David enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 and proudly served for more than 20 years.

For the last 18 years of his life, he lived at home with his son, Raymond; daughter-in-law, Zoraida; grandson, “LJ”; and granddaughter, Trinity. His family also included more than 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren at the time of his death.

Service date and time are to be determined.
