IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dennis Vincent
Good
November 28, 1944 – December 29, 2024
Dennis Vincent Good of Mount Dora, FL, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024. He was born to Phillip & Mary on November 28, 1944, in Gary, Indiana. Shortly afterwards, his family moved to the southside of Chicago. After living the big city life for several years, the family eventually settled in the Milwaukee area. There, Dennis made some life-long friends while playing cards at the Wauwatosa Bowlero. He served in the United States Air Force from 1966-1969. Dennis became a father in 1970, when he and his first wife, Mary, welcomed their son, Joel. In 1972, Dennis married Karen and they had Mandy in 1977. Dennis earned a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee in 1974. He went on to become a CPA and eventually worked as a CFO for several different hospitals across the country. Dennis retired to Leesburg, Florida in 2006 with Karen. He became a grandfather in 2008 when Zola Rose was born on Leap Day. In 2013, we lost Karen after a brief battle with cancer. Grief-stricken, Dennis decided to relocate to Mount Dora in search of a fresh start. In 2016, Dennis became a grandfather for the second time with the birth of Sylvia Karen. When Sylvia couldn't pronounce "Grandpa," she began to call him "Pap" and the name stuck.
Dennis has always known how to live life! He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing golf and cards, catching a Packer or Bulls game, sharing a beer, and traveling. He had a passion for rock music and attended many concerts over the course of his life.
A truly modest man, Dennis liked to look sharp and to keep up with current style trends. For decades, he had a mustache that rivaled Tom Selleck's. In the 80s & 90s, he sported a perm and could be found poolside perfecting his tan. Even in his grandpa era, he liked to wear cargo shorts, graphic tees, and flip flops - forever young at heart.
Dennis was a community leader. As a proud Democrat, he campaigned for Bobby Kennedy. Dennis served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. In the 1980s, he volunteered for the Big Brother program. Dennis also served as a Deacon and a youth group volunteer at his church. He & Mandy frequently volunteered at homeless shelters. As a CPA, Dennis filed taxes for underprivileged clients free of charge.
Dennis is survived by his children, Joel (Evelyn) Good and Mandy (Steve) Bevacqua; his granddaughters, Zola and Sylvia; his sister, Sharon (Frank) Good; and many close friends & family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip & Mary (Russell) Good; and his wife, Karen (Hansen) Good.
Dennis will be honored with a military burial at Florida National Cemetery. Respectfully, this ceremony will be attended by close family only.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Dennis' life on January 18th, from 3pm-5pm, 2025, at the Magical Meat Boutique, 322 Alexander Street, Mount Dora, FL, 32757.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
