IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald Raymond
Kramer
April 27, 1936 – February 19, 2021
Donald Raymond Kramer passed away peacefully at home, in Mount Dora, Florida on February 19th, 2021 after a four-year battle with multiple myeloma.
Born on April 27th, 1936 in Canton, Ohio, Don was the son of Mary and Otto Kramer. Don attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, graduating in 1960 with a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering. Hired by Western Electric/Bell Labs in 1960, which later became Lucent Technologies, Don enjoyed a 35-year career before retiring as a senior engineer in 1996.
Don is survived by the love of his life, Jean, whom he married on January 27th, 1962 in Columbus, Ohio where they raised two sons: Tim Kramer (Trang) of Windsor, California and Robert Kramer (Gail) of Crofton, Maryland. Don was also the proud grandfather of four grandchildren; Tim and Trang's children, Michelle and Robert, and Robert and Gail's sons, Shane and Jacob.
Don and Jean retired to Mount Dora in 2000 and he continued his life-long passion for bridge by joining the Lake County Duplicate Bridge Club, where he proudly earned the rank of Life Master. While working at Western Electric, Don served as the President of the Ohio Chapter of the National Microfilm Association, and loved history and classical music, especially Mozart. He was also a faithful, but, more often than not, frustrated fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State University. Don shared his love of a good joke by mailing copies of amusing cartoons, interesting articles, etc. to friends and family around the country.
Don is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Russ and Linda Kramer of Canton, Ohio, brother-in-law Chuck Markoski, also of Canton, as well as nephews, Mike and John Markoski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Otto, and his sister, Betty Ann Markoski.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that charitable remembrances
be made to either the American Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
or St. Vincent DePaul Society
in Don's name.
