Earlier in her life, Donna won a battle with cancer. It stayed in remission for 18 years, only to return a second time 5 years ago. She has been a resident of Eustis, Florida for the past 10 years, and previously lived in Charlotte for 30 years and Atlanta for 4 years.
Starting as an insurance adjuster trainee with Liberty Mutual Insurance in Charlotte in 1980, she eventually worked her way into management. Later she worked with the Independent Adjusting Division of The Hartford Insurance in Charlotte and settled insurance claims for Lowe's Home Improvement Corp. for several years. Her final career move was to transfer to The Hartford Insurance Company in Lake Mary, Fl., where she worked in management for several years before retiring in 2015.
During her retirement she devoted herself to increasing the Monarch Butterfly population of the world by starting and nourishing a beautiful butterfly garden with milkweed plants that Monarchs are known to love. Her yellow Tabby cat, AKA Fraidycat, tagged along and assisted as she managed the butterfly garden and also a sizable assortment of other colorful flowers that she loved dearly. She supported numerous wildlife and nature groups, especially ASPCA, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
