Obituary

Doris "Dee" Hawking, business owner, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family July 28th, 2016. Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, April 24th, 1935, she made Mount Dora her home for the past 31 years.

Dee was known for her laughter, her sense of humor, a generous spirit and being the life of any party. She built a successful iconic restaurant in downtown Mt. Dora, The Lost Parrot, formerly known as Eduardo's Station. As her business grew so did her tight-knit family, now including five generations.

Dee was predeceased by her mother and father, Margaret and Edwin; her sister, Naomi, and her brother, Edward. She is survived by her sisters, Beckey Rhoa and Nancy Buehring along with her husband Jack Buehring. Her children include daughter Victoria Holiday, son Charles "Sandy" Ulery and his wife Claudia Ulery, and her daughter Patricia Roe and her husband Terry Roe.

The grandchildren she loved dearly include Tina, Butch, Angela, Cenia, Luis, Shawn, and Brandi. Then there are her special great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Felicia, Hunter, Aurora, Jaxson, Lilly, Grace, Zoe Jane, Nolah and Carson and her precious great-great grandchildren David and Mateo. Dee's big family kept her, and her big heart, full of love.

At Dee's request, there will not be a memorial service, but rather a celebration of her life with all her family and friends. This will be held at The Lost Parrot in Mount Dora, FL on Thursday August 4th, 2016 at 7 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice and Palliative Care or any hospice organization of your choice.
