Dorothy Ann "Dottie" (Barnett) Hays, 82, of Arden, died Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Advent Health, Hendersonville.

Born in Orlando, FL, she was the wife of Ken C. Hays of Arden, and the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Battle) Barnett.

An avid tennis player, Dottie enjoyed the outdoors and liked to hike. Along with her sister, she was heavily involved in animal rescue and dog obedience competitions.

In addition to her husband of 60 years, she is survived by two sons, Garve K. Hays (Amy) of Cypress, TX and Brant T. Hays (Rhonda) of Blanchard, OK; a stepdaughter, Summer Stephens of Tulsa, OK; three grandchildren: Garve (Claire), Ethan, and Zachary; and one sister, Suzanne M. Barnett of Arden.

Graveside services will be held in Mt. Dora, Florida.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
