Obituary

Edward Bill Bass Sr., 82 passed away September 6, 2024, after a 4-year battle with cancer.

Bill Bass was born October 25, 1941, in Kissimmee, Florida and grew up in Groveland and later Orlando. A 6th generation Floridian, Bill graduated from Edgewater High School and later Jones Junior College. After high school he was in the U.S. Air Force for five years before returning to Central Florida to work in the citrus industry. For over 4 decades he managed packing houses and later orange grove operations for Dr. Phillips Inc., Coca Cola Foods (Minute Maid) and Running W Citrus.

Bill Bass was an avid fisherman, gardener, football fan, and a leader in his church throughout his life. He was the Fire Chief of Narcoossee Volunteer Fire Department and heavily involved in youth sport coaching in St. Cloud and Jensen Beach. After retirement, Bill was a devout and active member of Coastal Community Church of Sebastian and dedicated much of his time and energy to his faith community, embodying the spirit of service and compassion. Living in Florida most of his life he touched the lives of many in Orlando, St. Cloud, Jensen Beach, and Sebastian before moving back to his childhood county recently.

Bill Bass is survived by his wife Linda, his children Junie (Jeff) Biddle, Peggy (Russell) Bush, and Billy (Mary Ellen) Bass, Step-children Audrey (Joe) Hattendorf and Matt (Suzette) Rotrock, Grandchildren Donovan Albers, Jordan Albers, Baile Biddle, Daphne Bush, Easton Bush, Austin Bass, Savannah Bass, and Reilly Rotrock, Great-Grandchildren Isabella Bass, Kayce Bass, and Ryleighann Albers, Brother-law Larry Harper, and niece Cindi Englehart.

Bill Bass was preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Genevieve Bass, his daughter Karen Jill Bass, and sister Joyce Dale Harper.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held at CompassLife Church in Tavares on Saturday, September 14th, at 11:00 am.
