Edward H. Rutledge, 78, Lakes At Leesburg resident, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 after many years of battling prostate cancer. Born on July 27, 1934 in Lookout, PA.
Following his graduation from Honesdale High School he received his degree in civil engineering at Norwich University of Northfield, VT. He was commissioned in the US Army as a Second Lieutenant. He served six months active duty and six and a half years inactive reserve. He received an honorable discharge in 1965 with the rank of Captain.
Ed is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Cheryl Rossing (Will) of Superior, WI and a sister Nancy Bonnetti Honesdale, PA. Two stepchildren: Craig Amundson (Kathy) Jackson, WI and Theresa Picton (Troy) Dairyland, WI. Brother-in-law Dan Durand (Phyllis) Esko, MN and two grandchildren: Mollie and Thomas both of Superior, WI.
Ed had many interests over the years: fishing, hunting, bowling, skiing, dancing, reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards and his very favorite was golf.
He was retired from Wisconsin Department of Transportation as Chief Construction Engineer after 38 years.
Ed and Mary moved to Florida in 1995 when Ed pursued his golf game with vigor.
A celebration of Ed's life will be at the Lakes At Leesburg Clubhouse.
