IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eleanor Marie
Fellows
October 20, 1920 – September 14, 2020
Eleanor Marie Fellows was born Eleanor Marie Pittard to father Richard and mother Martha in Ludington, Michigan. Eleanor was fond of saying that her mother was kind enough to have her on 10/20/20 . She is just shy of reaching that date this year. She had an older brother, George, and a younger brother, William, who have both passed. Her younger sister, Bertha, lives in Walled Lake Michigan. Eleanor's husband, Robert, passed in 2010.
She lived independently after that in a wonderful Christian Community (Alliance) in Deland Florida and Spent the last 2 years under the superior care of the staff of the assisted living home there. We are forever grateful for the excellent help she received there.
She grew up a farmer's daughter but moved to the big city of Detroit when she was 15. After graduating for High School there she attended Cosmetology School and became a Beautician (old name for hair stylist, youngsters) and opened her own Beauty shop (Salon) until she married Robert (Bob) and followed him to Seattle during WWII. She brought their new baby, Kathleen Marie, with them.
When they returned to Michigan, they bought a home in Dearborn and had their second daughter, Marilyn Gracie. They built a home in Walled Lake, Michigan in 1952 where they lived a county life while Bob spent his 35 years as a manager for Cadillac Motors. Eleanor's career, besides being an excellent housewife (where she "styled" or cut everyone's hair) was as a local school "Lunch Lady" for 20 years. She was also a Sunday school teacher and a foster mother to 2 young girls. She followed Kathy to Orlando, Florida in 1975 and became a snowbird, with Traverse City Michigan being her summer residence until they became permanent Florida residents in the late 90's.
At 99.9 she loved her God, her church and her family. She contributed her longevity to modern medicine and was constantly saying "whatever" to any conflict.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Marie Roberts of Eustis, FL and Marilyn Grace Fellows of Westminster, CO. She had 4 grandchildren – Suzette Manfredi, Julie Wood, Brent Kose and Ross Wyeno. She had 7 great grandchildren and one great, great grandson.
In leu of flowers or gifts, donations in her name to the Alliance Community, 600 S Florida Ave., Deland, FL 32720 would be gratefully appreciated.
