Elizabeth (Betty) Zavadsky of Mount Dora died Monday, March 23, 2015, age 94.

She was born September 27, 1920 in Edwardsville, Kansas to James E. and Ethel Purtee Hoffman, and grew up and went to school in Springfield, Illinois.

She married Joseph Zavadsky January 1, 1939 and they both enrolled in Kentucky Christian College. While her husband ministered to Christian churches in Kentucky, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania, Betty worked in the welfare field as a social caseworker. They retired from Ligonier, Pennsylvania in 1987 and moved to Mount Dora. Her husband died in 1989.

A devout Christian, Betty was a member of the Mt. Dora Church of Christ. She is survived by one daughter, Judy Smith of Zephyrhills, three grandchildren, Noelle Annetts and Eric Gasaway in Ohio and Jeremy O'Donnell in Pennsylvania; one great granddaughter, Cory Gasaway in Ohio, and one sister Virginia Hoffman in Zellwood. One daughter, Carol Znameroski, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Allen J. Harden Funeral Home with a funeral service immediately following at 11 a.m.
