Evelyn Joyce Rider, age 92, of Eustis, FL, passed away on May 3, 2026. She was a member of the Mount Dora Church of Christ and a faithful and dedicated follower of Jesus Christ. Evelyn was the daughter of Floyd and Vera Kitchen, born in Vernon, NY, on July 30, 1933. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Dave, for 55 years until his passing on October 20, 2010. She met Dave in Sauquoit, NY, and married him on November 19, 1955, and moved to Orlando, Florida, with her husband and their 2 children, Valerie and Bill, in 1959. Both Dave and Evelyn became Christians in 1964, and she soon began teaching little children in Bible School and VBS, where she was learning along with the children about our Lord and Savior. In 1974, Dave and Evelyn both worked side-by-side to build a successful foliage nursery named Dave’s Nursery, located in Apopka, FL, where they raised beautiful Boston Ferns for over 30 years. From 2006 until 2019, Evelyn taught the Thursday Ladies Bible Class at the Mt Dora Church of Christ. Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, Dave Rider and her brother, James Kitchen. Evelyn is survived by her children: Valerie Brookins and her husband, Gregg; Bill Rider and his wife, Donna; her grandchildren: Dawn Brookins and her husband, Antonio; Aubree Rider and her husband, Dustin; Joshua Brookins and his wife, Taylor; Chloe Boss and her husband, Zach; her great-granddaughters: Elaina Rose Boss and Evelyn Bonnie Brookins; her sisters: Alice McNanny and Kathleen Fairchild; and many nieces and nephews.
