Gertrude Pickering, 98, of Mount Dora, Florida passed away on April 4, 2021. She was born on January 27, 1923 in Bairdstown, Texas. She was the youngest of eight children. She was married for 56 years to Jack Pickering and they were the beloved parents of Bill(Linda), Sharon(Robert), Nancy(Chip-deceased), and Terry(Frank). Their grandchildren include Scott(Heidi), Anna, Justin, Matt, and Sara. Finally their great-grandchildren Rhett, Reese, Maisie, Penelope, Cecelia, William, and Patton.

Gertie was a elementary teacher for 30 years and was very energetic and full of life. She loved being with her family, participating in church activities, cooking for crowds at the drop of a hat, and visiting her shut in friends at nursing homes and hospitals. She often brought her friends goodies she had prepared. She also enjoyed playing Bridge, power shopping, and most definitely partying!!

She will be forever in the hearts of those that loved her.

In lieu of  flowers the family would appreciate any gifts in remembrance of her life be given to the First United Methodist Church food pantry or to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road Tavares, Florida 32778.
