Gregory Thomas Dick was born May 20, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan. Parents were Thomas William Dick and Helen Mae Jutten Dick.
Greg is survived by his wife of 48 years, Christine, and their two children, Jeremy Thomas (Heather) and Laura Reynolds Carmichael (Ross), and six grandchildren: Grant, Aiden, Ainsley, Delaney, Gregory, and
Elisabeth.
Greg graduated from Denby High School in Detroit and earned his BS degree from Wayne State University. Greg retired from active duty as a Detroit Police Officer, serving there for 35 years. He worked at Baker College in Clinton Twp., Michigan, Campus Security until 2016. He was a Christ follower and served as an elder for nine years at Grace Community Church in Detroit, Michigan. He helped to reestablish Renewal Church in Warren, Michigan until his move in 2016 to Tavares, Florida. Greg served at Liberty Baptist Church in Tavares, Florida as a life group leader. He established their hospitality Sunday ministry and taught men's Bible studies. He was a member of the Emmaus Community of SE Michigan and Bible Study Fellowship. He volunteered at Liberty Christian Prep working concessions for every basketball game. In 2018 he was diagnosed with a sarcoma cancer in his leg, leading to a full hip disarticulation. Leading a life as an amputee he was active as a volunteer and mentored men and children.
Greg loved going to Disney with his grandchildren and loved listening to his daughter perform piano. He drew his greatest strength from his deep devotion to Jesus. Greg never complained; he lived with eternity in mind and made disciples for Christ. He lived his life verse from Matthew 28:19, "Go make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit."
