Ida L
Bass
March 18, 1946 – December 13, 2020
Ida Lynn Bass of Mount Dora, Florida passed with family by
her side on Sunday December 13, 2020 at 11:30 PM. At that
time, she earned her angel wings and joined our Lord and
Savior in Heaven. She was the daughter of Bill and Betty
Voorhees of Denver, Colorado. She graduated from East High
School and went on to attend York College in Nebraska. She
transferred to Harding University where she earned her degree
in Elementary Education in Searcy, Arkansas. After graduation,
she did one year of student teaching in Casper Wyoming. She
moved to Mount Dora, Florida in 1970 and started a 40-year
career as an elementary teacher at Mount Dora Christian Home
and Bible School.
Ida was active throughout her life in church activities, and
especially loved teaching cradle roll classes, lady's bible classes,
and working with the food pantry at Mount Dora Church of
Christ. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with
family, friends and her beloved Steel Magnolia friends.
She is survived by Jerry Bass, her husband of 49 years and
would be 50 coming May 30 th , 2021. She is also survived by her
daughter Chrystal Bass-Hindman of Eustis, Florida and her son
William Scott Bass (Mary Jane) of Leesburg, Florida. She has
three grandchildren, Clayton, Chloe and Colton Bass of
Leesburg, Florida that held a special place in her heart.
A graveside service will take place at Pine Forrest Cemetery
in Mount Dora on Thursday December 17, 2020 at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made
payable to the Mount Dora Church of Christ food pantry
located at 1801 N. Donnelly Street, Mount Dora, Florida 32757.
