Obituary

Ivy Lee Turner, of Tavares, FL, was born in Hillsboro, AL on July 17, 1930. He passed peacefully on December 20, 2020, in Mt. Dora, FL.

Ivy retired from the United States Air Force after a career of more than 22 years of service. He had previously served 4 years in the United States Army.  Ivy came from humble beginnings and left school in the sixth grade to help support his family. After joining the Air Force, he obtained his high school GED. A few years after retirement, he attended Brevard Community College and earned an Associate in Applied Science degree and an Applied Science Certificate in Ornamental Horticulture. His interests throughout the years included hunting, scuba diving, and bowling.

Ivy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Madelyn Irene LeMay Turner. He is also survived by his children Anna Leisa Ely (Dwayne), Roger Lee Turner (Sandra), Robert Wade Turner (Traci), Barbara Jean Powell (Clay), and Carolyn Sue Williams (Jimmy). Ivy was also survived by his sister, Silva Marie Payne Webb (deceased January 3, 2021) and his brother, Duke Barryman Payne (Lois). He is survived by 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Services for Ivy Lee Turner will be held at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on March 15, 2021 at 11:30 a.m.
