Obituary

Jacqueline C. Hubbard gained her angel wings on December 17th, 2023. Jacqueline was born to her parents, William and Margaret, on March 18th, 1930, in Louisville, Kentucky. She met the love of her life at the age of 16 and 4 years later she married Darrell Hubbard Sr. Being a military wife, they moved frequently and had 6 children in Louisville, KY, Jacksonville, FL, San Diego, CA, and their last child was born in St. Augustine, FL, where they raised their family. After the children left the nest, they both retired to Astatula, FL, where they went back to their roots and acquired as many animals as they could, from horses to chickens, pigs, ducks, dogs, and cats, to even an alligator, which was quickly relocated.

Jacqueline was devoted to her faith. Her children were raised in the Catholic faith and many attended private Catholic Schools. She became a Sacristan and a Minister of the Sick in St. Patrick's Church Parrish. She became ordained and was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. She devoted her life to the less fortunate and volunteered to the Christian Appalachian Project in Inez, Kentucky, where she helped the poor in that region. She was also career-oriented and worked in the financial industry. She helped migrant families with their taxes, expecting nothing in return. She would stress to her children that it was always better to give than to receive. If you asked her children, they would say she was a superhero. She was strong, caring, and selfless, their disciplinarian, their mentor and if needed, their best friend. Jacqueline leaves behind her sons, Mike and his wife, Petra, Bill and his wife, Patty, and Darrell; her daughters, Michele and her wife, Mary and Margaret and her husband, Daniel; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, who she thought of as her own, Sandy; a niece and nephew, Kathy Goldsmith and Joseph Payne, and her good friends, Natalie, Pat, and Mary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell, her son, Steven Paul, and a special daughter-in-law, Annelle. Funeral Services will be held January 3rd, 2023 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Mount Dora, Florida.
