James Durrell Hutcheson, 93 , of Mount Dora passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018.  He was born October 21, 1924 in Appling County, Georgia to the late George Hilton Hutcheson and Vera (Jones) Hutcheson.  James was preceded in death by Vera, his wife of 64 years, his son Tom, sister, Nadine and brother, Thomas.  James is survived by son, Jim Hutcheson (Sheila), daughters Joyce Brautcheck (John) and Suzie Phillips (Scott), four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

James served in the US Navy. He moved his family to Florida in 1951.  He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Dora where he served as a deacon for several years.  In Florida James, known to many as Red, became a mechanic working in Eustis before owning and operating the Phillips 66 Service Station in Mount Dora.

A Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, March 4 at Allen J. Harden Funeral Home in Mount Dora.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 5 at the First Baptist Church of Umatilla.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in James's honor to the First Baptist Church of Umatilla Building Fund.
