Janet Dawn Kabourek passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024, at the age of 76 in Mount Dora, Florida. Janet was born on March 16th, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, IA and grew up in Council Bluffs, IA where she graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1965. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Humanities from the University of Northern Iowa.

Janet was married to William Kabourek of Omaha, NE and had three children: Doug, Neil, and Annie. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be remembered for the love she gave to her family and friends. Throughout her life, Janet was active in Service-League, Assistance League, and enjoyed her book and bridge clubs in Council Bluffs, IA and Mount Dora, FL.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents: Russell and Dawn Herwig of Council Bluffs, IA; survived by her husband of 53 years, William Kabourek; three children, Doug Kabourek (Omaha, NE), Neil Kabourek (Denver, CO) and Annie Fenneman (Winter Garden, FL); and two grandchildren, Elliott and Oliver Fenneman.

A small service for the family will be held later in Council Bluffs, IA. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hearts United for Animals in Auburn, NE ( https://hua.org/) . It was a cause dear to Janet's heart.
