Jean Pike Houser joined her heavenly family on February 3, 2022.  Jean, a beloved sister and aunt, was born in Tangerine, Florida in 1934. She attended Roseborough Elementary and Mount Dora High. Immediately after graduating, she began her career working as a teller and cashier's office clerk at the First National Bank of Mount Dora in 1952, retiring from there 56 years later as Cashier/Vice President. In addition to her professional life, Jean was the devoted wife of "Tommy" Houser for 45 years, until his passing in 2003; and a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Dora. Tommy and Jean ran the Methodist Youth Program there as volunteers early in their marriage. Jean leaves behind---feeling lucky that they had her as long as they did---the families of nephews Alan Holden, Pike, Roy, and Thomas Hamlin and John Lavin, niece Allie Pike, cousins Jessie Pike Harvey and Jeanette Nunez, and "chosen family member" Linda Bowen Masters. She was also fondly loved by the blended Bolt and Melvin families. Preceding her to the spiritual family reunion in addition to Tommy were her parents, Maurice and Grace Pike, her brother Stewart "Bubba" Pike and sister-in-law LaNelle Pike, her sister Anne Pike Hamlin Bolt, and many extended members of her long local ancestry among the Simpson, Williams, and Pike family clans. If so inclined, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church. A public memorial service is planned for Saturday February 26, 2022, 2 PM, at the Church.
