Jesse James Chavis, 80, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, passed away in Fitzgerald
on August 23, 2022. James was born in Hartford, Alabama on May 5 to
Mittie and Otis Chavis. He attended Mt. Dora High School.
James married Judy and together they had two children, Sherry and Gary.
He worked as a welder before retiring and enjoyed fishing, bowling and
golf. He also loved watching the Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Braves.
James is survived by his wife and children, four grandchildren, four great-
grandchildren and four sisters. He is predeceased by his parents, two
sisters and three brothers.
