JoAnn Alberi Wofford, age 66, passed away on May 28, 2021. She was born in Gainesville Florida.

JoAnn leaves behind her husband John Wofford of 47 years, daughter Lori and son in law Nuri Yildiz. She also leaves behind her sisters Louise Egberts of Gainesville and Faye Alberi of Okeechobee.

JoAnn grew up in Sarasota. She was member of the First Congregational Church (now United Church of Christ). As a child she spent her summers at the family beach house on Longboat Key. She graduated from Sarasota High in 1972. She spent most of her young adult life in Okeechobee and worked at the Okeechobee County Sheriffs office for 19 years. Then she moved to Georgia and worked at the Milledgeville Police Department as the communications supervisor. After she moved back to Florida, she began working at the Alachua County Sheriffs office. JoAnn spent a total of 34 years in law enforcement before retiring in 2017.

JoAnn was animal lover she left behind her fur babies CoCo, Baby, Libby and ChiChi. During retirement she enjoyed traveling in her rv with family and spent a lot of time in North Carolina. JoAnn was able to take the trip she always dreamed of in the summer of 2018. She and John drove their rv from Florida to Alaska and back.

Memorial will be held at Allen J. Harden funeral home in Mount Dora on Friday June 11, 2021 at 1pm.
