Lake County Soccer Club (LCSC) Coach John Stacy Johnson, of Sorrento, died October 2, 2017 at Florida Hospital Orlando surrounded by his family. John coached the LCSC 2007 competitive travel team the Neon Lightning, Tavares, Fl. He also coached the Friday night youth recreational program for several years at the Sorrento Fields. For many years John coached and helped fortify the youth soccer program at Largo United Soccer Club in Largo, Fl. When moving to Lake County 23 years ago he coached for Seminole Seminole Soccer Club in Lake Mary. For many years he was a youth soccer licensed umpire and earned a "D" license through the Florida Youth Soccer Association in the early 1990s.He spent more than 30 years as a brick mason. He played the guitar his entire adult life and was passionate about many things. He loved music, books and his family. He is survived by his wife, Karen Johnson, (Sorrento, Fl) ; daughter, Stacy Johnson-Proctor and Brian Proctor (Fruitland Park, Fl); son, Joshua Johnson and Kristin Falen (Orlando, Fl); daughter, Kelly Johnson and Aaron Thude (Orlando, Fl) and daughter, Jennifer Johnson and Nick Bellamy (Sorrento, Fl).He had six grandchildren: Andrew Zachary Robinson; Desiree Rose Proctor; John Gavin Proctor; Christian James Proctor; Leah Proctor and Nick Bellamy Jr.
A memorial service will be held in his honor Sunday, October 15 at the Sorrento Chamber of Commerce Community Building, 24214 SR 46, Sorrento, FL.
The service will begin at 2 pm. Casual attire -- soccer uniforms included -- is requested. Seating will begin at 1:45 pm.
A reception will immediately follow the service.
