Obituary

Jonathan "Chooch" Iannone, 79, of Mt Dora, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Cornerstone Hospice along side his family and Brotherhood of Firefighters. Chooch was born in New Jersey and moved from Ringwood, NJ to Mt Dora in 1972 with his family. After moving to Mt Dora, Jon was a butcher, home builder, and a Firefighter. Jon, along with his family and friends started the Pasco Volunteer Fire Department in 1973 to serve those Lake County citizens that did not reside within City limits. Chooch joined Lake County Fire and Rescue in 1985 when Lake County took over the Fire Service and became an Assistant Chief.


Jon is survived by his wife Mary Lynn "Binky" Iannone with whom he spent 55 wonderful years with.  He is also survived by his daughter Dawn (Iannone) Bennett, son‐in‐law Ray Bennett, and 3 grandchildren Hunter, Breanna, and Matthew. Jon is also survived by his brother Dave Iannone, sister in‐law, and many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in life by his youngest daughter Gwen Iannone.


Viewing will be Friday, November 1, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm and Saturday November 2, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Allen J Harden Funeral Home, Donnelly Street, Mt Dora. Graveside service to follow at Pine Forest Cemetery, Mt Dora. There will be a celebration of life starting at 1:00 following the grave site service at the American Legion of Mount Dora Post 35 at 920 South Highland Street in Mount Dora. ALL ARE WELCOME.


In lieu of flowers the family is asking to donate to Cornerstone Hospice or St Jude's Hospital in his name.
