Joseph Lawrence Hutchison, Jr. of Mount Dora, Florida, born October 24, 1925 in Coffee County, Alabama, the oldest of three children to Joseph Lawrence Hutchison, Sr. and Eunice Mae Byrd. His brothers James Preston and Lewis Alton preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years Yvonne Driskell Hutchison, his three daughters, Renee Hutchison, Lesia Sweatt and Debra Peterson. He had six grandchildren and one great grandson.
After relocating to Florida at age twenty-one, Joe and Yvonne eventually settled in the Orlando area. Joe worked in the citrus industry and retired from Sardee of Florida around 1995. He and Yvonne retired to Mount Dora in 2001.
Joe served in the Men's Club at Dora Pines community. He was also active in various churches through the years, including Holy Family Episcopal Church in Pine Hills, Cathedral Church of St. Luke in Orlando and Epiphany Celebration Church in Eustis.
Joe enjoyed traveling to the Smokey mountains, gardening, listening to bluegrass and gospel music and spending time with family. He was especially fond of desserts and the people who made them. A kind and gentle man, Joe will be greatly missed by all.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Cornerstone Hospice in Lake County, Florida for their unwavering support and extraordinary care of Joe.
Donations: In lieu of flowers, Yvonne has requested that donations be sent to: Epiphany Celebration Church earmarked for Patrick Lennox.
Patrick is the son of a family friend and fellow church-member who is participating in an interdenominational missionary program on Indian reservations in North Dakota. Yvonne grew up on a Poarch Creek Indian settlement in Alabama, so this program has special meaning to her and Joe.
