Joseph G. Salisbury, 79, of Mt Dora, FL, died peacefully at home with Hospice Care, on Monday, April 4, 2016 after a long battle with cancer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Anne (Henley) Salisbury; his daughter Joanne (Salisbury) Forster and her husband, Dr. Jameson Forster, of Prairie Village, Kansas; his son Benjamin and wife, Bessie (Pennington) of Plano, Texas; and his son Charles of Wrightstown, NJ. He also leaves behind his sister, Sister Margaret Salisbury, RSM of Belize City, Belize as well as eleven grand children and six great grand children.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Everett Salisbury of Wickford, RI; and his sister, Ann (Salisbury) Motherway of Wickford, RI.
Born on October 20, 1936, Joe was raised in the seaside village of Wickford, RI. He graduated from Mount St Charles Academy in Woonsocket in 1954. He was employed by the state of Rhode Island for 35 years as a mechanic in the Motor Pool . He then worked in the parts department at Rhode Island Engine in Point Judith, RI until retirement.
In 1999 Joe and Anne moved to Mount Dora, Florida. Together they would embark on frequent getaways to some of their favorite coastal spots like Cedar Key, Joe loved fishing, stock car racing, gardening and music and sports. He was a history buff, especially the Civil War era. He absolutely loved living Florida.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service held, at Allen J Harden Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Pine Forest Cemetery both located on Donnelly Street in Mount Dora, FL on April 18th at 10 A.M.
