September 14, 1929 – April 17, 2022
Kathryn Helen (Kondak) Bergholtz, age 92, formerly of Towanda, Pennsylvania, passed away Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. She was a dedicated Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother and a devoted Catholic who left a long legacy of love, tenderness and kindness to all the lives she touched. She will be greatly missed.
She married Richard Albert Bergholtz in 1950 and moved to Orlando. Together, they had six children. During her 92 years, and in addition to her devotion to her family, she worked for Western Union, first as a messenger, and then as a bookkeeper in Pennsylvania, New York and Florida. Later, she was an assistant teacher for learning impaired elementary students in Orange County, Florida. She was involved in the Central Florida community and volunteered much of her time to work with children suffering with intellectual and developmental disabilities, at The Primrose School, Camp Thunderbird, The Russell Home for Atypical Children, Orlando Sheltered Workshop, and the Central Florida ARC.
Preceded in death by her husband, Richard Albert Bergholtz; daughters, Mary Margaret Bergholtz and Sandra Ann Bergholtz; parents, Michael and Mary Kondak; sisters, Joan Vernon and Romaine Lane; and brother, Al Kondak.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah "Debbie" K. Meyers, and her husband, David; son, Richard "Ric" S. Bergholtz, and his wife, Kelley; son, Jeffrey "Jeff" A. Bergholtz, and his wife, Cathy; daughter, Mildred "Millie" B. Mahaffey, and her husband, Bryan; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Hamlin; brother, Michael Kondak; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will begin with a mass held at 9:00 AM Monday, April 25, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6803 Old Hwy. 441, Mount Dora, FL 32757 with Pastor Jimson Varghese officiating. The services will continue graveside at 11:00 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd., Gotha, FL 34734. The family extends an invitation to friends to join them after the graveside service at the home of Ric Bergholtz, 22939 Wolf Branch Road, Sorrento, FL 32776, to celebrate the life of the beloved Kathryn Helen Bergholtz.
