SCHWALB, KATHRYN J. "KITTEN", 77, of Mount Dora, FL passed away on June 22, 2015. Kitten was born on May 11, 1938 to the late Norman and Kathryn James. She moved to Mount Dora from Michigan with her family in 1972. She had a long-time passion for horses and competed nationally in Dressage and Hunter Jumper. During the 1984 and 1996 Olympics, she was a timer during the Cross Country horse competition. Kitten taught riding for many years in both Michigan and Florida. She was known throughout the horse community and there are many who attribute their skills and expertise to her. Kitten was actively involved in the Mount Dora community and served as a Realtor/Broker for 40 years.

Kitten was loved dearly by her family and all who knew her and she brought great joy to their lives. She was preceded in death by her husband David Schwalb. She is survived by her son, Andrew Schwalb (Diane); daughters, Nancy Shafter (Jim) and Jennifer Floyd; brother Bud James (Lois); and six grandchildren, Erin Shafter Wiley (Nick), Brett Shafter, Pierce Schwalb, Neil Schwalb, Evan Schwalb, and Conner Floyd.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 26, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and vespers will be held from 11:30 a.m. to noon at Allen J. Harden Funeral Home in Mount Dora. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at St. Andrew Antiochian Orthodox Church in Eustis with The Very Rev. Father Cassian Dunlop officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Forest Cemetery in Mount Dora.
