Kenneth Emerson Goldi, 78, of Sorrento Florida, passed away at his home on March 11, 2013. His children were at his bedside. Throughout his illness, Ken held fast to his faith and his clever sense of humor.
Preceding him in death was his wife Janice, whom he adored. Ken was married to ?the girl next door,? for 55 years. Also preceding him in death were his parents Alton and Alma Goldi and brother, Gary.
Ken is survived by his daughter Kimberly Lewis and husband Jim of Darien, Connecticut; son Mark Goldi and his wife Milena of Brighton, Michigan, brothers Robert and Donald Goldi. Ken also leaves behind five loved grandchildren, Erin, James, Marina, Jonathan, and Nicole.
Ken graduated from high school in Trenton, Michigan in 1953. He maintained and enjoyed close relationships with his classmates though out his life. After high school he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Morocco. Upon returning to the States, Ken began a 30 year career with Michigan Bell Telephone Company.
Ken enjoyed golf, (he made three hole-in ?ones), fishing, boating, gardening, and reading. He enjoyed watching and caring for the many birds that frequented his beautifully maintained backyard. He also liked following the stock market and managing his own portfolio since his retirement in 1987. However, nothing made him happier than a family gathering.
Many will remember Ken as a stoic and gentle man. Others will remember him as a fiercely devoted husband and a strong man who accepted life?s challenges with dignity and grace. Still others will remember Ken as that lucky guy who had the prettiest wife, the coolest truck, and the sharpest golf cart.
A donation in Ken?s memory may be sent to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL. 32778.
A private family service will be held in Michigan at a later date.
