Prouty
January 29, 1970 – December 30, 2022
Kristie L (Briggs) Prouty, 52, of Mount Dora, FL was taken into the arms of the Lord on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Cornerstone Hospice in Tavares, FL following a long illness. Receiving the absolute best care there, and surrounded by loving family, listening to one of her favorite songs as she calmly and peacefully drew her last breaths. Born January 29, 1970, in Cambridge, NY to John Briggs and Juanita (Bornt) Briggs Brown, she was the eldest of their children together. Her parents both eventually remarried and added to her siblings. She married the love of her life, Francis (Frank) Prouty, and shared a beautiful, fulfilling life together. Kristie received her education at schools in New York and Vermont. She worked as a broker and dispatcher for many years and was very well respected in the trucking transportation industry. She founded the Xtreme Racing team with her husband which won a championship and still holds the record for most consecutive wins at Ocala Raceway. Kristie enjoyed an occasional night out to listen to live performances of country music. She loved her family most of all and always did her very best to make sure everyone was okay and taken care of, right up until the end.
Kristie is survived by Frank, her husband of 35 years; sons, Kristopher (Sara Cornelius), and Kurt (Jennifer); her brother, Keith (Tonya) Briggs, sister, Heather (Joe) Zugzda; and siblings Eric, Heather, Stephanie, Jamie, Diane, and Donna; and the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Zachary, Kyle, and Alyssa Prouty, and Ethan Scroble; Brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and so very many people she loved as family.
She was predeceased by her parents and step father, and her brother, Todd Briggs.
At Kristie's request, there will be a private family viewing at the Allen J Harden funeral home on Friday, January 6, 2023 with the cremation following. A small celebration of life will be held on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her honor to Cornerstone Hospice.
