Obituary

Leon Rodgers passed away peacefully on 1/7/15 at the age of 78. Leon was born on 11/30/36 in Coffee County, Alabama to Frank Rodgers and Eva Walden Rodgers. He had 10 siblings, 4 sisters and 6 brothers. He married Ruth Laverne Lindsey in 1955 and together they had 3 children, Karen, Brenda and Kenneth. Leon has been a long term resident of Mt. Dora Florida.

Leon was a businessman and a farmer. As a teenager he began working at Grisham Sod Farm and Nursery in Zellwood, Florida. In 1972, he purchased the farm with a partner and it became Living Carpet Sod and Nursery, Inc. He retired from the Business in 1999.

Having a love for the outdoors, Leon had many hobbies over the years. He enjoyed fishing, bee keeping, and vegetable gardening. Each year he would grow a bountiful vegetable garden that was enjoyed by the whole family. He also loved operating and working on machinery and was always fixing or rebuilding something.

For several years, Leon was active in the community as a volunteer fireman at the Zellwood Fire Department. Also, in 1979, he obtained his license as a private pilot and logged many hours of flying.

Leon is survived by his children and their spouses: Dave and Karen Parker, Jeff and Brenda DiMarzo, and Ken and Ann Rodgers.
