IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda Kay
Dale
October 3, 1943 – July 8, 2024
Linda Kay Dale of Mount Dora, Florida, passed away peacefully at home early Monday morning, July 8, 2024. She was 80 years young and was born October 3, 1943, in Mobile, Alabama. She was the beloved wife of Bert Dale and together, they shared 60 years of marriage. They met in high school, in the small Mayberry type of town of Wiggins, Mississippi, when Linda was just a sophomore in high school. Bert finally got the courage to ask her out on a rainy day after church. The rest was history. Bert and Linda spent most of their adult lives in Denham Springs and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where they raised their family and made lifelong friends. Louisiana was always a special place to Linda. They relocated to the Orlando area in 2005 to be close to their children who had graduated from college and decided to call Florida home. Linda enjoyed living in Florida and making memories in the Apopka and Mount Dora area.
Linda had a vibrant personality. She was sweet, outgoing, caring, compassionate, fun, athletic, energetic, had a quick wit and sassy sense of humor. She grew up on her family's farm and worked hard as a young woman helping on the farm. She was involved in numerous clubs and activities at school, including being a cheerleader and playing on the basketball team. Linda went on to attend Perk Jr. College, work and then, marry on August 30, 1963. Most of all, Linda was a family woman through and through. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She never met a stranger.
Linda is survived by her husband, Bert Dale, daughter, Paula Dale, son, Dallas Dale (Ingrid), grandson, Dallas Dale II, brother, Tyrone Breland (Carol), brother-in-law, Donald McHenry, niece, Kimber McHenry Ritchie (Garland), nephew, Don McHenry (Kay), niece, Melissa Breland Nash, nephew, Mart Breland, niece, Mona Breland, and niece, Monica Breland Wilkinson. She is preceded in death by her parents, Vollen Durward Breland and Esta Lee Breland, along with her sister, Kirby Breland McHenry.
One of Linda's talents and hobbies was decorating. She was very talented and could be found on a ladder painting a room, hanging wallpaper, or pulling furniture rearranging a room. She made gorgeous arrangements, could transform any room into a showroom and made any wrapped gift look like a masterpiece. Everyone always thought she should have opened her own store and decorating business. One thing you could always hear Linda saying when tackling any project was, "Linda is not going to be outdone." Linda was a "let's getter done" type of woman and she rolled up her sleeves to help her kids/family with any and everything. She did indeed get things done! Aside from decorating, Linda was the family woman who did anything and everything for her family. She enjoyed being there for her kids' activities and enjoyed watching her grandson play baseball and anything he was doing. To say she will be missed is such an understatement. She was the life of a room and the heart of her family.
