IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Louis Joseph
Gabos
December 16, 1931 – February 16, 2021
Louis J. Gabos, 89, of Summerfield, Florida went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Staten Island, NY, Louis joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17 and proudly served as a Corporal in the 114 th tank battalion. After an honorable discharge, he met and married the true love of his life, JoAnn. Beginning in 1956 they were married for 61 years until her death in 2017. Louis was a lifelong entrepreneur who owned several successful businesses during his lifetime. He and his brother, Tullio Gabos, owned and operated a very successful pest control business in New Jersey for over 23 years. After moving to Florida 1978 he and his wife JoAnn purchased a laundromat in Winter Park that they successfully ran for a year, but his love was pest control which he knew best. He sold the laundromat to start another pest control business which he grew until his retirement.
In his spare time Louis loved fishing, garage sales and flea markets. He also loved puzzles, playing chess, poker, dominoes, and the card game UNO. He had a quick-witted sense of humor and was always looking for ways to make others laugh or smile. He was fluent in English, Spanish and Italian and had a very generous heart doing whatever he could to help others.
Louis leaves behind his daughter, Angela and her husband Thomas Gardner of Mount Dora, FL and 2 sons, Louis J. Gabos Jr. of Lake Mary FL and Brian C. Gabos of Cooksville, TN. He also leaves behind 5 Grandchildren, Jennifer Maselli, Brandon Gabos, Alexis Gabos, Erica Gabos and Brianna Gabos as well as two great granddaughters, Taylor Hamrick and Jadynn Durham. In addition, he also leaves behind a great, great granddaughter scheduled to be born within a few days of his passing. Louis was an outstanding provider for his family, an excellent husband and loving father. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
