Obituary

Marilyn Cooke Heflin was born and raised in Crockett County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late Daniel Clyde and Ruth Pauline of Alamo. She passed away last Friday after an extended illness.

She attended Fred - Hardman College in Henderson Tennessee for two years where she met William Heflin. And after a year of working in an Alamo bank, they were married in Alamo, Tennessee September 1, 1950. She graduated from Memphis State, majoring in home economics.

Marilyn taught school for twenty years, both in Arkansas and Tennessee. She enjoyed sewing and made most of the girls clothes, including wedding gowns. She was an avid reader and enjoyed book clubs and garden clubs.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Melinda Groom of Nashville Tennessee. Marilyn is survived by her husband of sixty five years, William Heflin, one daughter Edna Hensley of Nashville Tennessee, Five Grandchildren, and ten Great - Grandchildren. She was a member of the Mount Dora Church of Christ, and supported her husband in his work as a representative of Christian Bible School.
