DUFRESNE, Mark Maurice (MOOSE), age 75, of Leesburg, FL., passed away on Friday, April 7th, 2023. Mark was born on October 21st, 1947, in New Bedford, Massachusetts to Hervy and Theresa (Morosse) Dufresne. Mark was the third born of four sons. He was a graduate of Miami Central Sr. High School in 1967. After graduation, Mark enlisted in the U.S. Army as an engineer and spent six years on active duty. During this time, Mark spent two combat tours in Vietnam (1967-68 and 1970-71). In between his tours in Vietnam, he was stationed at Fort Kobbe, Panama Canal, Fort Hood, Texas, and finally, Fort Riley, Kansas. After leaving the service with an Honorable Discharge, Mark and family returned to Miami, FL., and embarked on a career as a maintenance mechanic. In 1969, Mark married Beverly (Ross) Dufresne and over the next 54 years they built an amazing life raising two boys. Mark was very active in various organizations from Boy Scouts, Athletic Booster Clubs and other Civic groups. Prior to Mark's retirement, he was the Maintenance Supervisor for the Transportation Department for the Lake County School Board. Mark's talents were many, as he was an ASE certified master technician with over 40 years experience, there wasn't much he couldn't fix. After retirement, Mark was avid motorcycle rider who loved the open road and the feel of the wind on his face. Mark was also involved with his former Army unit, 864th Engineers, as an active alumnist, making many trips across the country to participate in their annual reunions. Preceded in death by his parents, Hervy and Theresa Dufresne; brothers, Jeff Dufresne, Charlie Dufresne and Roch Dufresne. He is survived by his sweetheart and wife of 54 years, Beverly D.; son, Paul Dufresne and his wife April; 4 grandchildren, Nikki Falarski, Andrew White, Jason Dufresne and Hailee Dufresne; son, Adam Dufresne; granddaughter Hayden Dufresne, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
