Martha S Johnson

I have fought the fight & kept the faith! My God & I are Home! Martha S Johnson passed away February 28, 2019 among family & friends at home. Born in Mount Dora, FL on February 22, 1934 to Grady & Thelma Simpson, Martha managed Riley's Park, the family business for 53 years. She was involved in her community, church & school institutions. Martha Ernestine was a friend to everyone she met.

Married to George Robert Johnson, Martha is survived by her four children; George Robert Johnson, Jr., Dorine Noxon, Jennifer Ray, & Thelma J Palmer, & 10 grandchildren; Tara Scott, Chris Johnson, Crystal Noxon, Megan Ray, Nicole Skyleson, Martha Sheffield, Mark Johnson, Travis Palmer, Kiersten Ray, & Brittany Palmer and 6 great-grandchildren.

Prior to her illness, Martha was involved in MDB & MDHS Athletics, Delta, Delta, Delta Sorority, FSU Seminole Boosters, Girl & Boy Scouts, FUMC Youth, Eastern Star, and Mt. Dora Church of Christ; she was the first ever president of the Lake County Shrine's Ladies' Auxiliary. As a parent & grandparent, she frequently attended ballgames & events. Known to be the bus driver, coach & Gatorade provider, Ma helped bring athletic sports to females in 1979 & football to MDB in 2005.

Family & Friends will be received at 5pm for a "Celebration of Life" on March 4, 2019 at the Mount Dora Church of Christ. Mom was never one for flowers, so the family requests that to honor her, please donate to Cornerstone Hospice who cared for her, along with family or the Colon Cancer Foundation.
