Obituary

Michael (Mike) C. Norman, 77 of Seville, Florida transitioned from this life on Sunday, December 27th, 2020 in Orange City, Florida.
His parents,  Paul Raymond and Helen Louise Norman left Kentucky and moved to Miami, Florida just in time for the birth of Mike, their youngest son, on October 19th, 1943.
As the youngest of five boys, Mike completed the Norman team. Fate had other ideas though, and at four years old Mike was diagnosed with cancer and given only weeks to live.  Through extensive surgery and many prayers,  the good Lord intervened and Mike went on to live another seven decades. He was truly a walking miracle.
At the tender age of 17 he met the love of his life Linda Davis. They were married in Deerfield Beach on August 17th, 1962. Mike and Linda danced their way into full family life when they adopted their daughter Mary Helen in 1969.
Mike took family very seriously.  He worked hard,  becoming an IBEW LU 728 Electrician and working until his retirement at age 62. Not only did he love the work,  but being a union member allowed him to do what he loved best - which was to travel.  Mike and Linda were always looking for interesting projects and jobs across the country - a new place for a new adventure. He was able to call Las Vegas, Seattle, Chicago, and Colorado temporary residences - just to name a few.
Many a niece and nephew can attest to his love of travel.  Mike could be counted on to bring any number of them along on adventures. The kids would pile up (with or without their parents) for a week of shenanigans - whether it was camping,  hot dog eating contests, or rollercoasters - Uncle Mike was always up for the challenge.
A man of faith,  Mike had a deeply personal relationship with Christ. His walk with the Lord began in 1976 and continued the remainder of his life.  He regularly attended a number of churches throughout his lifetime and was involved in several ministries - including teaching Sunday school, hunger relief,  and a children's bus ministry.
Mike is survived by his daughter Mary Helen Gilpin-Hudson, son-in-law David Gilpin-Hudson, grandchildren Catherine Abigail and David Michael Gilpin-Hudson, surviving partner Marge McLain, brothers Charles and John Norman, sister-in-law Tanya Norman, and dozens of nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife Linda (March 26, 2000), brothers James and David, and sisters-in-law Peggy, Wanda, and Joyce.
Mike's graveside service and burial will take place on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 2 PM at Pine Forest Cemetary, 1801 N Donnelly St. Mt. Dora, Florida 32757.
