Monteen Fersch, Age 100, passed away at the Ocala Regional Medical Center on 07/23/2021.

She was born in Cairo, Georgia on May 20, 1921 to the late John & Eliza Gilliard.

Monteen was an avid reader and always enjoyed challenging anyone to a game of cribbage.

She lived in Hialeah, FL and then in Winter Beach, FL. After Mrs. Fersch lost her vision, she moved to The Villages, FL, to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

Monteen married Harry William Fersch on August 12, 1938, in Stuart, FL. He predeceased Monteen on November 07, 1985.

Mrs. Fersch worked as a secretary at the Winn-Dixie Administrative Office in Hialeah, FL for many years.

Monteen and Harry had four children:

Walter Erwin Fersch who resides with his wife, Vickia, in Collettsville, North Carolina.

Joyce Dockery who resides with her husband, Wayne, in Lockesburg, Arkansas.

William Harry Fersch was married to Harriett Fersch and predeceased Monteen on 09/12/2009.

Marie Chevrier who resides with her husband, Kevin, in The Villages, FL.

Mrs. Fersch had 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.

Monteen was a sweet, adorable person and if you knew her, you loved her!

A service will be held in her honor at the Allen J Harden Funeral Home in Mt. Dora on Friday, July 30, from  10:00 am-12:00 with Mass at 12:00
