Obituary

Nancie Lue Barclay passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the age of 91. She is survived by her son, William Scott Nelson (Liz); daughters, Marci Stanley (Jim) and Laurie Lambert (Phil); 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James and infant daughter, Margi.

She was born and raised in Mason, Michigan, and eventually moved to Redford Township after marrying her first husband, Bill. She was a stay at home mom until 1966 when she accepted a job as a Redford Township Police Traffic Bureau Clerk. She moved up through the ranks and eventually became the Administrative Secretary to the Chief of Police. She was "Department Mom" to many. After 22 years of service, she and her husband, Jim (a.k.a. Honey Ducky Plummy) built their dream home in Tavares, Florida.

Retirement didn't hold her back as she volunteered for over 20 years at the Mt. Dora Chamber of Commerce and was a long time member at the Mt. Dora Golf Club. Her other hobbies included playing cards, gardening, painting, and cooking. She is well known for her creative Christmas cards that contained many of her poems.

Her hospitality was infamous, as many of her beloved friends and neighbors can attest. She hosted many dinners and welcomed those who were alone or had no holiday plans. She not only loved parties, but was the party. She loved animals and took in many strays over the years.

Foremost she loved her family. Her great grandchildren fondly called her GiGi. She will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date in Michigan.
