IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy Jane
Wiggs
August 19, 1946 – December 5, 2025
Nancy Jane Wiggs, known lovingly as Jane, passed peacefully on December 5, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born in Nashville, Tennessee, Jane was the youngest of three daughters. After losing her father at a young age, she was raised in East Nashville by her devoted mother, Elizabeth. It was there, surrounded by the love of her mother and sisters, that Jane developed the quiet strength and generous spirit that would define her life.
Jane's faith led her to Bell City, Kentucky, where she answered a calling to serve at Paradise Children's Home, nurturing preschool-aged children with the same warmth she would carry throughout her years. She later made her home in Mt. Dora, Florida, working for many years in the office at Blanton's Citrus before transitioning to Walmart Optical, from which she retired.
Jane found a true home at the Orange Avenue Church of Christ, where she considered fellow members as part of her family; Jane served faithfully in numerous volunteer roles. Most recently, she dedicated herself to the clothing ministry program, collecting, organizing, and distributing the clothing room—a ministry that reflected her heart for serving others with dignity and care.
Beyond her church family, Jane cherished her role as aunt, great-aunt, and great-great-aunt. She delighted in encouraging her nieces and nephews, never missing an opportunity to cheer from the bleachers at their athletic events. Her presence was a gift, her pride in their accomplishments, unwavering.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Wiggs and Elizabeth Wiggs Armstrong; her stepfather, Ralph Armstrong; her beloved sisters, Mary Shepherd and Beth Tillman; and her nephew, Charles Shepherd.
She is survived by her sister, Cheryl Armstrong Smith, nieces and nephews: Sharon Warren, Susan Shepherd, Dawn Sutton (Jerry), Glen Shepherd (Whitney), James Shepherd, and Ken Shepherd (Karen); great-nieces and great-nephews: Jordan Warren, Austin Warren (Nikki), Phillip Shepherd, Christopher Shepherd, Whitney Lane (James), Caleb Sutton (Kristin), Allie Sutton, Hunter Shepherd (Ashley), Cheyenne Graves (Mason), and Kylee Daniels; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews: Jade, Navi, and Adalind Warren, Dominick Shepherd, Noah Shepherd, Ella Mae and Everly Lane, Hannah Lee and Andrew Shepherd, and Mac Graves.
Jane's life was a testament to quiet faithfulness—to her God, her family, and her community. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Orange Avenue Church of Christ located at 1511 E Orange Avenue, Eustis, FL 32726. A potluck meal will be shared after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Orange Avenue Church of Christ. Clothing donations also appreciated in honor of Jane's faithful service to those in need. (orangeavenue.org )
