Obituary

Norman "Norm" W. Karr, age 85 passed away in Mount Dora, FL. on January 6, 2013, from pneumonia complications.

Born August 1, 1927 in Melrose Park, IL, he was the beloved husband of Ruby (Plecas) for 63 years. Dearest father of Paul (Michele) Karr, Jon (Cecilia) Karr and grandfather to Elizabeth, Michael & Jonathan and brother of Ruth Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Emma (Kikkebusch) Karr and brother Glen (Jean) Karr. Norm graduated from Proviso East High School, Maywood, IL. in 1945 and served in the Navy during World War II and as a 2nd lieutenant in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He later joined the family business Karr Bothers, Inc., with his father Paul, brother Glen and other family members, eventually becoming the principal owner. He was past President of the Chicago Area Painting & Decorating Contractors Association and was a member of the City Planning Commission in Park Ridge, IL where he lived for over 25 years. Norm pursued his lifelong passion for golf and could usually be found playing or doing committee work at Mount Dora Golf Association.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 2:00 PM in the Waterman Village Chapel, 445 Waterman Ave., Mount Dora, FL. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to Florida VFW Foundation Inc., 543 NE Sanchez Ave., Ocala, Florida 34470.
