IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia "Trudi"
Laverne Stevenson
July 14, 1948 – March 17, 2020
Patricia "Trudi" passed away suddenly on March 17, 2020 at her home in Mount Dora, FL. She is survived by her daughter, Stacey Sekscienski and husband, Steve Gooch, of Sun City, AZ; her son, Robert Stevenson of Alamogordo, NM; brother Rick Chavis; brother Alan Chavis and wife Cherie; Aunt Beth Minnix; stepmother Rosalie Chavis, and many friends in many places.
Born to Olin Donald Chavis and Lucille Cook in Jacksonville, FL, Trudi graduated high school in Hagerstown, MD. She lived in various places including California and Illinois. She settled in Oklahoma City, OK where she raised her two children and worked for many years in the petroleum industry. Trudi had a passion for travel and especially loved the ocean, which is what brought her to Mount Dora, Florida in 1989 where she lived for the remainder of her life. She saw beauty in many things and loved gardening and beautifying her home. Trudi was a proud member of the Beaver Creek Indian Tribe in South Carolina.
Trudi joined the Lake County School System team in 1991 where she worked until she retired in 2013. She had a passion for assisting others and dedicated her life to helping less fortunate people. As the Parent Involvement Specialist for Lake County Schools Title I office, she was a pioneer in the world of "Take Home Technology. " For many years, she would routinely lift 60 lb computers for families to take home after training parents on how to help their children learn with computers. Trudi instituted the F.I.T. (Families in Transition) Fair which helped families in need to obtain food, clothing, shelter, and employment opportunities. Her vision lives on today as the Federal Programs Department hosts regular family engagement events and continues to work with the same community agencies that Trudi initiated. Trudi always fought for what was right and did everything in her power to right wrongs, make things fair, and serve others. She will be greatly missed and the world was a better place for having her in it.
No services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Cares Food Pantry, 2001 W. Old Highway 441, Suite #1, Mount Dora, Florida 32757 OR Forward Paths Foundation, PO Box 492109, Leesburg, Florida 34749."
