Paul Alexander Guthrie Jr. , 75, of Eustis, Florida, with his family and loved ones close by his side, went into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after a long, hard, and bravely fought battle with cancer on April 5, 2021.

Paul was born in Daytona Beach, Florida, on August 18, 1945, and graduated from Winter Park High School in 1963. He received his Bachelor of Science from Florida Southern College, his Master of Arts at Stetson University, and his Doctorate of Ministry from Trinity Theological Seminary. He was married to his lifelong friend and partner, his loving wife of 54 years, Dianne Elizabeth Jones Guthrie.

During his lifetime, he was an Airborne Ranger(Captain), in the US Army Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division, and served in Vietnam where he was awarded among many awards, a Purple Heart and a Silver Star. He had been a owner of a tire business and an electrical supply business. In various churches, he has served as an administrator, and associate pastor, a lead pastor, a supply pastor, and a teacher. He has been both a professor and teacher of religion and history on the high school and college level. Paul has also authored several books, Return to Grace and Reflections. He was a brother in the Kappa Sigma fraternity.

Paul loved to study his Bible and read history books. Over the years he loved to hunt, fish, travel, go to the gun range, build things in his shop, and bless his friends and family.

Paul was survived by his wife. Dianne Elizabeth Jones Guthrie; his two daughters, Jan Allison Gustafson and Kelly Elaine Raley; his two son-in-laws, Ronald Dale Gustafson and Jack Leonard Raley; and his three grandchildren, Colby Jackson Raley, Morgan Krisanne Raley, and Kendal Deanne Gustafson,

His funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 17, at Lifepointe Church in Eustis, Florida. Visitation will be at 1:00PM and the service at 2:00PM. Graveside will be a private family time.
