Peter Chretien passed away suddenly on January 24th at the age of 75. He was born in Yonkers, New York on May 27, 1938. Peter was a devoted husband and loving father. He is survived by his wife Kitty of 50 years, his son Geoffrey and wife Carolyn of Orlando FL, his daughter Alison Beck and husband Bill of Boonton Twp., NJ, and his three grandchildren: Cade, Sarah, and William.
Peter grew up in White Plains, New York. He earned his undergraduate degree from Miami University (Ohio) and earned his Master's Degree (MBA) from New York University. After College, he followed in his father Ken's footsteps and began a long career in banking and finance. Peter also served in the United States Navy and Naval Reserves and retired a Commander. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, and served on the boards of the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, and Board of Governors of the Lauderdale Yacht Club.
Peter's three passions in life were his family, his love of travel, and reading the New York Times. He and Kitty were intrepid travelers and would plan trips every year to far off places like Africa, India, China, Europe, and most recently, a Disney Cruise with his entire family to celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. During retirement, he and Kitty had the best of both worlds spending winters in Mount Dora FL, and summers on Long Beach Island, NJ, where he loved going to the beach, boating, crabbing and spending time with his grandchildren.
