IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Pierrette Pain
Mccord
March 8, 1937 – November 30, 2024
Pierrette Pain McCord, 87, of Tavares, Florida passed away 30 November 2024 after a sudden decline in health. Pierrette was born 08 March 1937 in Roman aux Bois, a small farming village in the Vosages department in northeastern France. She was the sixth of eight children born to Albert Nicolas Louis Pain and Louise Blanche Irène Jacques Pain. Her childhood in German occupied France was during some of the darkest days of World War II and its aftermath.
In the late 1950s, Pierrette, ever the Anglophile, left France for Cambridge, England where she studied.... English. Her language skills, speaking German and English fluently, along with her native French, garnered a position in Germany with NATO where she met her husband, George E. McCord. They married 12 September 1967 and were together for 56 years until George's death in February of this year.
Pierrette and George settled outside of Washington D.C. where Pierrette raised their children, Valerie and Geoffrey and made many lifelong friends. In 1986, they relocated to Weston, Connecticut where she had a career in home health and was an active volunteer at Emanuel Episcopal Church. Pierrette battled breast cancer just before her retirement which brought them to Tavares in 2005 where she and George joined St. Edward's Episcopal Church. Situated near the theme parks and beaches made Pierrette a popular host. Her grandchildren and friends from across the U.S. and family from France all visited.
At all three of the homes where she and George lived, Pierrette was an avid gardener and social butterfly. She epitomized the phrase, "Bloom where you are planted." Pierrette made friends and nurtured relationships for herself and others, sending cards and letters and otherwise keeping in touch with friends, family, and in-laws.
Throughout her 87 years, Pierrette's faith in her Lord and Savior never wavered. She found solace in His love and care. Pierrette often quoted the apostle Paul, specifically 2 Timothy 4:7-8, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." which aligned with her belief of perseverance.
In addition to her parents and husband, Pierrette was preceded in death by her brothers, Bernard, Roland, Jean-Marie, and Claude and sister, Suzanne Bossa. She is survived in the United States by her children, Geoffrey of Tavares; Valerie and her spouse, Jason, of Topeka, Kansas; and grandchildren, Alexander of Lenexa, Kansas and Abigail of Topeka, Kansas. In the Vosages area of France she is survived by her brother, Francis Pain and spouse, Francoise; sister, Odette Briot; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at St. Edward's Episcopal Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Edward's or Cornerstone Hospice.
