Richard Walper Doster died Tuesday, November 13th in Mt. Dora, Florida,
just days before his 92nd birthday. He was born November 17, 1926 in
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the son of Emma Jane and Robert Doster.
Richard enlisted in the US Navy on his 18th birthday and served 2 years.
He later attended Lehigh University. His business life consisted of working
for J.C. Penney Co. for 20 years having been store manager at Augusta,
Georgia, Orlando, Florida and the Winter Park Mall store in Winter Park,
Florida. After 20 years, he left to start his own business and founded Doster
Floor Covering.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers John and Bob
Doster, and his wife of 53 years, Jean Wharry Doster. He is survived by
sons Jeffrey (Judy), Richard (Sally), and Thomas (Debbie), daughter Jane
Elizabeth McManus, eight grandchildren, Bradley Doster (Carlea), Paul
Doster (Claire), Sam Doster (Andrea), Elizabeth Paige Johnson, Audrey
Jean Doster, Sherry Dreger, Ted Haddock, Rob Haddock and five greatgrandchildren,
Natalie Rose Dreger, Jeffrey Dreger, Eli, Jovi and Ellis Haddock.
He is also survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Flora Todd Doster
and her sons Jon Milton Todd and Marc Wheatley Todd (Marianne) and
their daughter Abigail Kathleen Todd.
Richard's greatest mission in life was to bring family and friends to know
Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November
27th at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Mt. Dora, 439 E. Fifth
Avenue, Mt. Dora, Florida.
